I live a simple life that is focused on enjoying and interacting with nature more than man-made creations. I enjoy yoga, gardening, star gazing and following the moon phases while avoiding things like metaverse, the hype surrounding AI and crypto currencies.
I have surpassed the stage of my life when I considered programming to be my passion. It isn't anymore because I have since realized through my guru (Sadhguru) that expansion of this life through experiencing and learning newer things is the only way to be satisfied in life.
After having worked for about 9 years in the software industry, taking up this master's degree in Data Analytics was certainly one of the best decisions as it enhanced my understanding of various software process, techniques and concepts. BITS Pilani's training methodology was challenging but enjoyable and visiting various colleges in the city for taking the examinations was a delight.
Enjoyed waking up early in the morning to catch the college bus followed by snoozing during the ~1hr journey to college, making friends, the symposiums, study holidays and exams that were peaceful. SSN college of engineering trusted the students to make use of the freedom that it provided and I am grateful for that. Yet, I never identified as an electronics engineer even though it was my field of study.
Among the various certifications that I have acquired over my career, I would say that two certifications that have been beneficial for me are the AWS Certified Developer Associate and Stanford online: Machine Learning. The former allowed me to secure my second job and the second one helped me to be in the right place at the right time to move to Australia. But by far the most difficult certification that ever acquired is the AWS Certified Solution Architect Proferssional.
It is common in Indian culture for parents to fund their children's education so my first job was also my first serious job as a Programmer analyst at Cognizant. I was young and lacking experience. I owe my current capabilities to Cognizant as it allowed me to learn and grow within the organization to become a professional. I continued to work there for 11 years.
The first job in Australia was at a software agency named Mudbath in Newcastle, NSW. Working here, I felt closer to the client than I had ever felt in my career until that point. The quick feedback from the clients and the impact that the software creates on their daily lives was a great motivator that actually improved my approach towards a problem.
I lead a team of 4 people which I believe has made me a better person. The job did have its ups and downs and I have since moved on to another one which is at an insurance firm (IAG - NRMA).
